What is your student/teacher ratio? In our Toddler classes we have a maximum of 7 students per teacher and a maximum of 14 in the class. At busier times (lunch & naps) we have more teachers assisting. In our Primary (3-6 year olds) classes we have 24 children and 3 teachers. When do you enroll students? Our summer & fall enrollment begins in late January. During the school year we will enroll any time we have a opening What ages do you enroll? Our Toddler program is for 15 months - 3 year olds, and our Primary program is for 3-6 year olds. Can we do 2 or 3 days a week? We have a 2- or 3-day a week program for our Toddlers. Please refer to the Toddler Tuition Schedule under FORMS for details. Primary students are required to enroll for a minimum of 5 mornings a week and can add any combination of afternoons. Do you have a summer program? Yes, we typically offer four 2-week summer sessions. How many days are you closed during the year? We generally follow the Issaquah School District for our closures with a few exceptions. We are closed all federal holidays, the week of July 4th, 3 days for Thanksgiving, and for a 2 week winter break with no childcare available. For other closures such as mid-winter break, spring break, and conference days we offer childcare. What is your discipline policy? We have 3 rules at Issaquah Montessori: - Respect for self.
- Respect for others.
- Respect for the environment.
We talk about what this means frequently and model it for the children. If a child is behaving in a way that violaties one of these rules, we identify how they are being disrespectful, remind them of the rule and help them to choose a more respectful behavior. Instead of telling them what they can't do, we strive to help them make better choices. Often, just redirecting them is all that is needed. How do I drop off and pick up my child at school? An important time of the day for each child is when they arrive and depart from school. IMS has a tradition in how we complete these crucial times. Each child is met and greeted at their car and escorted to the building. At departure time, the child is escorted back to the vehicle and buckled in. |
